Project Update 2021-05-10

RAPID CITY, S.D. – May 10, 2021 – Work this week includes backfilling around the box culvert that has been installed at Horse Creek. Roadway excavation continues from Highway 385 to the westernmost Spring Creek bridge with work taking place on the new marina access. Roadway excavation, undercutting, and gravel placement are also continuing at Norseman Lane moving west to Old Sheridan Road. Storm sewer installation is in progress at Norseman Lane moving west.

Traffic to The Marina at Sheridan Lake must use the gravel detour from Highway 385. The Marina is not accessible from Sheridan Lake Road during this construction season.

The speed limit is 35 mph from Norseman Lane to Rockwood Road. Sheridan Lake Road is fully closed from Spring Creek Trailhead Road to Highway 385. Thru traffic from Rapid City to Highway 385 must use an alternate route. Motorists are asked to be aware of suddenly slowing and merging traffic, changing work zone locations, reduced speeds through the work zone, and construction workers and equipment adjacent to the driving lanes.

Additional information will be provided as phasing, access, and traffic control changes with the progression of the project. To view the entire scope of the project, with the phasing and traffic control plans as well as weekly updates, please visit the project website https://www.SheridanLakeRoad.com or the storymap located at: https://arcg.is/58fn9.
