Project Update 2022-06-13

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rain events continue to slow the placement of gravel and topsoil, with normal progress to resume as the project dries and conditions improve. The remaining curb and gutter will be placed this week near the easternmost Spring Creek Bridge. Permanent striping from Dakota Point to the westernmost Spring Creek Bridge will take place as well.

Between Rockwood Road and the easternmost Spring Creek Bridge, the road consists of dirt grade. Motorcycles and two-wheel drive vehicles should consider an alternate route. During inclement weather, slippery and muddy road conditions may exist.

The speed limit is 35 mph from Victoria Lake Road to the easternmost Spring Creek Bridge. Motorists are asked to be aware of suddenly slowing and merging traffic, changing work zone locations, reduced speeds through the work zone, and construction workers and equipment adjacent to the driving lanes.

Additional information will be provided as phasing, access, and traffic control changes with the progression of the project.
