RAPID CITY S.D. – The remaining permanent stripping from Rockwood Road to the westernmost bridge will be completed this week. Crews will continue to install erosion control devices.

All work within the roadway is expected to be complete before Labor Day weekend.

The speed limit is 35 mph from Victoria Lake Road to the easternmost Spring Creek Bridge. Motorists are asked to be aware of suddenly slowing and merging traffic, changing work zone locations, reduced speeds through the work zone, and construction workers and equipment adjacent to the driving lanes.

Project Update 2022-08-22

The asphalt overlay between the Spring Creek Bridges is underway and is expected to be completed early this week. The sand seal will be placed later this week. Final striping and signing will take place next week. Topsoil placement continues and is expected to be completed mid-week. Permanent seeding will follow.

Project Update 2022-08-16

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Construction has resumed near the Spring Creek Bridges. Crews are milling and removing the existing asphalt at the bridge ends. Asphalt leveling will take place mid-week followed by a final asphalt overlay. Topsoil placement will also resume followed by permanent seeding from the easternmost Spring Creek Bridge moving east.

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Asphalt paving is complete from Rockwood Road to the easternmost Spring Creek Bridge. Construction will be paused through the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. On Monday, Aug. 15, 2022, construction will resume with an asphalt overlay from the westernmost Spring Creek Bridge to the easternmost Spring Creek Bridge.

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Work will continue as scheduled this week through Friday, July 1, 2022. No work will take place over the Fourth of July holiday weekend and Personnel will be onsite to apply dust control measures, as necessary. Gravel placement continues between Rockwood Road and the easternmost Spring Creek Bridge. This entire length has one layer of gravel placed and asphalt paving is scheduled to begin Wednesday, July 6, 2022. Topsoil placement and general cleanup continues throughout the work site.

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Gravel placement continues between Rockwood Road and the easternmost Spring Creek Bridge. This entire length is anticipated to have gravel surfacing by late next week. Topsoil placement and general cleanup continues throughout the work area.

Between Rockwood Road and the easternmost Spring Creek Bridge, the road consists of dirt grade. Motorcycles and two-wheel drive vehicles should consider an alternate route. During inclement weather, slippery and muddy road conditions may exist.
