RAPID CITY, S.D. – December 22, 2020 – Installation of mailboxes and permanent signing from Albertta Drive to Norseman Lane will be complete this week. Work continues outside of the existing roadway from Norseman Lane to Highway 385 with minor grading, and stump clearing. Oftedal intends to work through December 23. Construction work will be shut down December 24, 2020 and resume January 4, 2021.

Crews from Pennington County Highway Department continue removing trees adjacent to Sheridan Lake Road between the Spring Creek trail head and the Spring Creek Bridge. This work is expected to take place through December 2020.

Motorists are asked to be aware of suddenly slowing and merging traffic, changing work zone locations, reduced speeds through the work zone, and construction workers and equipment adjacent to the driving lanes. Seeding is anticipated to be complete by the end of this week. Oftedal intends to work from Norseman Lane to Highway 385 outside of the existing roadway. That work will include pipe installation, grading, and clearing.

Intermittent traffic delays are anticipated to be approximately 15 minutes during daylight hours as traffic is reduced to a single lane and guided through the work zone with the use of flaggers. Plan accordingly and add 15 minutes, at a minimum, to travel schedules. The speed limit is 35 mph from Albertta Drive to Victoria Lake Road.

After completion of work on the current phase, Oftedal intends to work from Norseman Lane to Highway 385 outside of the existing roadway. That work will include pipe installation, grading, and clearing.
