Sheridan Lake Road Reconstruction
RAPID CITY, S.D. – September 8, 2021 – Asphalt sand seal will be applied from Norseman Lane to Victoria Lake Road this week. Finish work behind curb and on slopes will follow.
Topsoil placement continues from Highway 385 to the westernmost Spring Creek bridge. Curb and gutter will also be placed at various locations from the westernmost Spring Creek Bridge to Dakota Point. Asphalt will begin near Highway 385 late this week.
Reminder: Sheridan Lake Road is closed from Taylor Ranch Road to Highway 385.
Roadway excavation and fill placement continues along the new alignment from Old Sheridan Lake Road moving west to Rockwood Road.
A maintenance crew will be onsite during precipitation events and through the weekends to continue to maintain the road.
Traffic to the Marina at Sheridan Lake Road must use the gravel detour from Highway 385 until asphalt paving is placed.
The speed limit is 35 mph from Norseman Lane to Rockwood Road. Sheridan Lake Road is fully closed from Spring Creek Trailhead Road to Highway 385. Thru traffic from Rapid City to Highway 385 must use an alternate route. Motorists are asked to be aware of suddenly slowing and merging traffic, changing work zone locations, reduced speeds through the work zone, and construction workers and equipment adjacent to the driving lanes.
Additional information will be provided as phasing, access, and traffic control changes with the progression of the project.
