Project Update 2021-08-16

RAPID CITY, S.D. – August 16, 2021 – Gravel finishing and topsoil placement continues from Highway 385 to the westernmost Spring Creek bridge. Seeding will begin this week on the large backslopes.

Approach, curb, and gutter installation will continue from Victoria Lake Road to the east. Roadway excavation and fill placement continues along the new alignment from Old Sheridan Lake Road moving west to Rockwood Road. Topsoil behind curb is also being placed from Norseman to Victoria Lake Road.  Asphalt paving will begin this week at Norseman Lane moving west.

A maintenance crew will be onsite during precipitation events and through the weekends to continue to maintain the road.

Traffic to the Marina at Sheridan Lake Road must use the gravel detour from Highway 385 until asphalt paving is placed.

The speed limit is 35 mph from Norseman Lane to Rockwood Road. Sheridan Lake Road is fully closed from Spring Creek Trailhead Road to Highway 385. Thru traffic from Rapid City to Highway 385 must use an alternate route. Motorists are asked to be aware of suddenly slowing and merging traffic, changing work zone locations, reduced speeds through the work zone, and construction workers and equipment adjacent to the driving lanes.

Additional information will be provided as phasing, access, and traffic control changes with the progression of the project. To view the entire scope of the project, with the phasing and traffic control plans as well as weekly updates, please visit the project website https://www.SheridanLakeRoad.com or the ArcGIS StoryMap located at: https://arcg.is/58fn9.
