RAPID CITY, S.D. – August 2, 2021 – Gravel placement is in progress moving east from Highway 385. Please use extreme caution as trucks will be entering the project from Highway 385. Roadway excavation and storm sewer installation continue from Highway 385 to the westernmost Spring Creek bridge. Topsoil is also being placed at various locations.
Approach, curb, and gutter installation will continue toward from Victoria Lake Road the east. Roadway excavation and fill placement continues along the new alignment from Old Sheridan Lake Road moving west to Rockwood Lane. Remaining Storm sewer crossings at Sawmill to Rockwood Lane will continue this week Topsoil behind curb is being done from Norseman to Victoria Lake Road. A maintenance crew will be onsite during precipitation events and through the weekends to continue to maintain the road.
Traffic to the Marina at Sheridan Lake Road must use the gravel detour from Highway 385 during the week of August 2nd through August 7th. Traffic should expect a change in access to Sheridan Lake Road Marina to occur the week of August 9th. Marina access will be moved from the gravel detour route to Sheridan Lake Road. Traffic will make a right turn onto North Beach Road to access the Sheridan Lake Road Marina.
The speed limit is 35 mph from Norseman Lane to Rockwood Road. Sheridan Lake Road is fully closed from Spring Creek Trailhead Road to Highway 385. Thru traffic from Rapid City to Highway 385 must use an alternate route. Motorists are asked to be aware of suddenly slowing and merging traffic, changing work zone locations, reduced speeds through the work zone, and construction workers and equipment adjacent to the driving lanes.
