Project Update 2021-07-19

RAPID CITY, S.D. – July 19, 2021 – Gravel placement is in progress moving east from Highway 385. Please use extreme caution as trucks will be entering the project from Highway 385. Roadway excavation and storm sewer installation continue from Highway 385 to the westernmost Spring Creek bridge. Topsoil is also being placed at various locations.

Curb and gutter installation will begin this week near Norseman Lane. Roadway excavation and fill placement also continue along the new alignment from Old Sheridan Road moving west to Rockwood Lane.

A maintenance crew will be onsite during precipitation events and through the weekends to continue to maintain the road.

Traffic to The Marina at Sheridan Lake must use the gravel detour from Highway 385. The Marina is not accessible from Sheridan Lake Road during this construction season.

The speed limit is 35 mph from Norseman Lane to Rockwood Road. Sheridan Lake Road is fully closed from Spring Creek Trailhead Road to Highway 385. Thru traffic from Rapid City to Highway 385 must use an alternate route. Motorists are asked to be aware of suddenly slowing and merging traffic, changing work zone locations, reduced speeds through the work zone, and construction workers and equipment adjacent to the driving lanes.

Additional information will be provided as phasing, access, and traffic control changes with the progression of the project. To view the entire scope of the project, with the phasing and traffic control plans as well as weekly updates, please visit the project website https://www.SheridanLakeRoad.com or the ArcGIS StoryMap located at: https://arcg.is/58fn9.
