RAPID CITY, S.D. – June 14, 2021 – Roadway excavation and culvert installation continue from Highway 385 to the westernmost Spring Creek bridge. Gravel placement is anticipated to begin late this month.
Storm sewer installation continues moving east from Victoria Lake Road to Stirrup Court. Storm sewer will be installed across the Stirrup Court approach this week. Roadway excavation and undercutting continue near Victoria Lake Road, moving west to Old Sheridan Road. Gravel is being placed in preparation for curb and gutter installation later this month. The reclaim and milling operation continues from Old Sheridan Road going west to Rockwood Road. Traffic will be placed on the new roadbed near Old Sheridan Road late this week.
A maintenance crew will be onsite during precipitation events and through the weekends to continue to maintain the road.
Traffic to The Marina at Sheridan Lake must use the gravel detour from Highway 385. The Marina is not accessible from Sheridan Lake Road during this construction season.
The speed limit is 35 mph from Norseman Lane to Rockwood Road. Sheridan Lake Road is fully closed from Spring Creek Trailhead Road to Highway 385. Thru traffic from Rapid City to Highway 385 must use an alternate route. Motorists are asked to be aware of suddenly slowing and merging traffic, changing work zone locations, reduced speeds through the work zone, and construction workers and equipment adjacent to the driving lanes.
Additional information will be provided as phasing, access, and traffic control changes with the progression of the project.
