Project Update 2020-12-02

RAPID CITY, S.D. – December 2, 2020 – Installation of permanent signs should be completed this week from Albertta Drive to Norseman Lane. Work this week also includes fencing and mailbox replacement. Work continues outside of the existing roadway from Norseman Lane to Highway 385 with pipe installation, grading, and clearing.

Crews from Pennington County Highway Department are removing trees adjacent to Sheridan Lake Road between the Spring Creek trail head and the Spring Creek Bridge. This work is expected to take place through this week.

Motorists are asked to be aware of suddenly slowing and merging traffic, changing work zone locations, reduced speeds through the work zone, and construction workers and equipment adjacent to the driving lanes.

  1. Will there be any guard rails/cables between Spring Canyon Trial and Norseman lane on the right side when you are west bound?

  2. Thank you for sending your question regarding the Sheridan Lake Road Reconstruction project. There will not be guard rails in that area. During final design the inslopes were flattened which removed the necessity for guardrail. This, along with the improved horizontal and vertical alignments of the road and the removal of timber and other obstructions from the clear zone, will greatly improve the safety through this area.
